Costs and funding

Clear prices in writing, no contracts, and help working out which programs might pay for part of your care.

How pricing works

  • Hourly rates

Care is billed by the hour. Rates depend on the type of care and the time of day, with higher rates on statutory holidays.

  • Minimum visit

Most visits are at least 2 hours so care is not rushed. Overnight and live-in care are quoted as a flat rate.

  • Written quote

You get the price in writing at the free care visit, before anything is booked. No sign-up fees, no deposits.

  • No contract

Care is booked week to week. Change or pause your schedule with notice, without penalties.

Programs that may help pay for care

Eligibility rules change. Check with each program directly; we are happy to help you prepare.

New Brunswick Department of Social Development

The Long-Term Care Program assesses older adults and adults with disabilities who need ongoing help. If you qualify, Social Development may pay part or all of the cost of home support, based on a financial assessment. Contact Social Development to request an assessment; we can explain the process and what to ask.

Disability Support Program (adults 19 to 64)

Social Development's Disability Support Program helps New Brunswick residents aged 19 to 64 with a long-term disability pay for supports such as personal support in and outside the home, respite and life skills. A financial assessment decides how much you contribute, and you can choose to self-manage your plan.

Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (under 19)

This Social Development program helps families raising a child with a disability pay for things like respite, home support and family support workers. Eligibility is not based on family income or a specific diagnosis. Call your regional Social Development office to apply.

Veterans Affairs Canada

The Veterans Independence Program can help eligible veterans, and some surviving spouses and caregivers, pay for personal care, housekeeping and grounds maintenance so they can stay at home. Contact Veterans Affairs Canada to check eligibility.

Private and workplace insurance

Some health benefits and long-term care insurance policies cover home care or respite. We provide detailed invoices and receipts for your claims.

Tax credits

Fees paid for attendant care can count toward the federal medical expense tax credit, and people who qualify for the disability tax credit may be able to claim more. Ask your accountant or the Canada Revenue Agency what applies to you.

Programs and insurers decide eligibility and coverage, not Bayfern, and we cannot guarantee approval. Bayfern is a private company and is not affiliated with these programs. Rates and payment terms are set out in our client service terms.
