Physical disability and complex care
Hands-on care for spinal cord injury, MS, ALS, stroke, brain injury and other conditions that need heavier or two-person care.
Some care needs more than one pair of hands or more training. We regularly support people other agencies find hard to staff: heavy transfers, mechanical lifts, two-person care and long or overnight shifts.
What's included
- Transfers with mechanical and ceiling lifts, and two-person care
- Personal care, bowel routines and skin care to help prevent pressure sores
- Support for people using oxygen, wheelchairs and other equipment
- Routine catheter and ostomy care, once a nurse has taught the task
- Support after acquired brain injury, including routines and safety
- Bariatric care with the right equipment and team

Who it helps
- Adults with spinal cord injury, MS, ALS, Parkinson's or the effects of a stroke
- People supported by the Disability Support Program or WorkSafeNB
- Families who need consistent, heavier care and want their loved one to stay at home
